Compared to the one of the ligurian“Cinque Terre”,
Costa Viola’s territory, set between the sea and the mountains, is
characterised by a series of high and uneven coastlines,. Among them
is very important the one of Monte Sant’Elia from where is possible
to admire a unique view. The coastline unfolds along the slopes that
are covered by the Mediterranean stain and by the typical terracings.
The depths of the Costa Viola represent a primary environmental
source and they look like untouched tropical sea spots. Mythology
and history meet in Scilla, that breaks into the Messina Strait with
its rock surmounted by the Ruffo Castle. Here, as well as in Bagnara,
is practiced the traditional swordfish hunting, a real ritual that
is still done with the ancient techniques, on board of the
“passerelle”, engine boats that have a long wharf that pokes out of
the hull, and a mast of over 30mt.
