Also in this area there is a great number of
fiumare, and amongst them we find La Verde, that flows between
Bianco and Samo, with its spectacular gorges that are home to many
species of migrating birds. In Bruzzano, Sant’Agata del Bianco and
Careri there are springs of sulphurous and mineral water. There are
also waterfalls like the Forgiarelle in Samo’s area and the
Marmarico Waterfalls in Bivongi that are some of the highest and
most evocative in Italy. The aridity of certain areas allowed the
growth of broom plants, from which branches is possible to extract a
fibre, that weaved in traditional looms is used to create linens and
furnishing accessories.
