Fiumare characterise the territory from the mountains to the sea.
Their journey, relatively brief, goes from the mountain above to the
sea below in quick paths, that create depressions in the ground. The
biggest fiumara of this area is the Amendolea one, that flows into
Condofuri Marina, drawing a great silver cobblestone path running
alongside orange groves and broom plants.
“Soon or later the fiumare sweep everything away”. This is
what Corrado Alvaro used to write, representing the violence with
which Nature has often come back to claim back what was taken from
her.
